🗺️ Cwmbran Life on tour
I’ve always enjoyed writing the Cwmbran Life email newsletter. It’s a chance to share things on my mind and stuff that’s been going on behind the scenes.
I want to run an idea by you.
My mind is like a sieve and unless it’s written down in my To-Do list application or blocked out in my calendar the chances are it won’t get done.
The last few weeks have been spent doing a long overdue digital tidy-up. I recently pressed a button on my email account and around 4,000 emails I thought had been deleted suddenly appeared in my inbox. Yikes!
So while working through those slowly and surely I’m setting up a new system with a lot more automation and labels.
Cwmbran Life gets messages on several platforms and even though I may have read a message, it doesn’t mean I do something with it on the spot. So it needs to be recorded as a follow-up. And a day later, there could be six new messages on top of it. Imagine that with emails, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, texts and social media text messages. It’s not pretty and this is 365 days a year.
The idea- Cwmbran Life on tour
⏰ So on the weekend, I decided I needed to disappear for a few hours, hide from my inbox and just get away with my own head and my dog. At 5am on Monday 9 September, my alarm went off and I headed to Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.
An hour later I was in Pont ar Daf car park at the bottom of Pen y Fan. And two and a half hours after that I was back at my car with a tired dog.
It was great fun and so close to Cwmban.
Cwmbran Life does what it says on the tin. But I’ve always been a bit flexible and if something will interest people in Cwmbran, I’ll do a story on it. This has led to the odd stories about things in Newport, Blaenavon and even Pembrokeshire.
So Cwmbran Life On Tour is the sort of tagline for occasional features for Cwmbran Life readers on things which are bit further afield.
🎥 This is a video I made following a trip to West Wales in 2018 and here is the story I wrote title: Five stunning beaches in Pembrokeshire- 113 miles from Cwmbran. Perfect day out this summer.
💡 Good idea? Bad idea?
What do you think? I’m looking forward to spending a couple of hours writing about my trip to Pen y Fan. I think that an occasional look at things outside the area will give my writing brain a break from our great town- and in turn lead to better stories about Cwmbran.
Cwmbran Life On Tour will be a once a month, maybe twice a month feature. Any ideas of things I could cover? The Pen y Fan story will be up over the next few days.
I’d love to hear your views!
