Nominations for the first ever Pride of Torfaen Awards close on Friday 19 November 2021.
The awards recognise individuals, groups and clubs that make Torfaen a better place to live.
This year Torfaen Council has teamed up with Torfaen Leisure Trust and Torfaen Sports Development Team to expand the established Sporting Heroes Awards and recognise wider contributions to life in the borough.
Categories for the 2021 Pride of Torfaen awards are:
Community Champion Award – recognising people who go to great lengths to raise funds for charity and those who help others in the community of Torfaen.
Innovative Sports Award – awarded to a sports club who found creative ways to keep their members engaged and active during 2021.
Inspirational Youth Award – awarded to a young adult who has inspired and achieved despite adversity.
Outstanding Contribution to Sport – awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to sport in Torfaen.
COVID-19 Response Award – recognising a local employer who adapted, diversified and went above and beyond in the Pandemic.
Inclusive Sports Award – awarded to a club or individual who has ensured that they provide an inclusive culture where all abilities are welcome.
Sports Club of the Year Award – the Club of the year would have made a significant impact on the development of their sport.
Unsung Hero Award – awarded for exceptional care in the community. Recognising individuals who make a real difference putting other people’s needs before themselves either in a professional or personal capacity.
Entrepreneur of the year/Small business of the year – recognising entrepreneurs or small businesses in Torfaen. This award will be supported by the Economy and Enterprise Team of Torfaen Council.
Lifetime Achievement Award – awarded to someone who has dedicated their time and inspired people throughout Torfaen over many years.
2021 Pride of Torfaen (Ultimate Award) – awarded to an adult who unselfishly gives their time to help others and make Torfaen a better place to live.

The awards night is at Pontypool Active Living Centre on Monday 20 December at 7pm.
