Owen Filer, 105, has been presented with a certificate and trophy to officially recognise him as the oldest known man in Wales.
Yesterday, Ben Hinchliffe, the UK researcher for LongeviQuest, an organisation that researches and records the oldest living people in the world, travelled from Huddersfield to Cwmbran to meet Mr Filer.
They met at the Parkway Hotel where they enjoyed a few hours over coffee and lunch.

Ben said: “I’d like to send my heartfelt thanks to Mr Filer and his son Barry for being so welcoming and kind to me. I think it’s safe to say a very pleasant day was had by all, and I’ve already been told Owen will be showing off his trophy for weeks to come. I say why not, I’d be showing off too.”
