A Cwmbran park will be packed full of activities for all the family this weekend to celebrate the town’s 75th anniversary as a New Town.
Picnic in the Park has been organised by the volunteers from the Friends of Pontnewydd Park. The fun starts at 1.30pm on Saturday 18 May 2024 with a performance by Cwmbran and District Pipes and Drums.
Entry is 20p but all activities inside the event are FREE. These include:
- Tomahawk throwing
- Falconry display
- Forest school
- Arts and crafts
- Messy crafts for under 5s
Families are encouraged to bring their own picnics and enjoy a day outside in the park.
Leanne Morgan, chair of the Friends of Pontnewydd Park, said: “This year we are having to charge a small fee of 20p for entry, due to licensing requirements however, this remains a wallet-friendly event with all activities on offer being free.
“We have a live falconry display from Wye Valley Falconry. It’s going to be amazing to see these wonderful animals in flight over our park.”
Organisations including Cwmbran Community Council, Pontnewydd Scout Group, Richmond Road Baptist Chapel and the Torfaen Opportunity Group will run activities on the day.
