art drawing on the blitz
A WWII battlefield drawn by a year 6 pupil

Year six pupils at Coed Eva Community Primary School have been learning about World War II.

Pupil Amelia Havelot from class 6LG wrote this for Cwmbran Life on what she and her classmates have been doing. Scroll down to read some of the poetry written by pupils on the Blitz along with some of their artwork.

“Our topic in year six is WW2. We have learnt about D-Day which stands for ‘day-day’ and lots more on this topic. In year six we have recently wrote a poem about the Blitz which was Hitler’s Luftwaffe bombing London in the darkness of the night. We use personification to write a poem.

“Personification is giving a thing or object a human-like quality. Last week we did a piece of art that was based on WW2. It was what a battlefield would’ve looked like from far away and fallen soldiers that have got killed or injured whilst fighting.

“My favourite part of learning about WW2 this term was writing the poem about the Blitz and drawing and then finding what the names were of the parts of the Spitfire, the Panther and a submarine.”
