Cwmbran police will follow up on some complaints about parking outside schools by parents during the daily drop-off and pick-up runs.
An officer attended Cwmbran Community Council’s meeting on 31 January and was told about several local issues by councillors.
Cllr Phil Seabourne, Ty Canol Ward, said residents living in Ty Canol are “annoyed” about parking by Henllys Church in Wales School.
The police officer said he would see “if some of the team can pop up”.
Cllr Bill Walker, Llantarnam Ward, raised problems at Llantarnam Community Primary School. He said “several points” are “jammed with cars, particularly around 3pm” and “even parking across dropped kerbs”.
Cllr Walker said: “Some of the parents have no common sense at all”, it “was a problem throughout the borough”, and “no-one is there to check it out”.
Cllr Stuart Ashley, Mount Pleasant Ward, said there are also issues with parking across dropped kerbs near the vets in Pontnewydd and on Trinity Road.
He said: “It would be good if someone went and did a few people on that.”
Cllr Anthony Bird, Northville Ward, said suggested the police visit Cwmbran Train Station around the time the last train arrives on a Friday and Saturday night. He said he had received noise complaints from people living nearby and “even just a car parked up in the car park” would make “people feel safer.”
The officer thanked councillors and said he would meet Toraen Council’s parking as they “work close with them” and “certainly ask them team to look at” the issues raised at the meeting.
