Result of the Two Locks ward election for Cwmbran Community Council

The result of the Two Locks election for Cwmbran Community Council has been announced.

Residents in Two Locks voted yesterday (21 September 2023) at two ballot stations, Hollybush and Coed Eva Community Centre (The White Hut) and The Bowls Pavillion on Henllys Way. The election was held following the resignation of Luke Simmonds, who won the seat in September 2022.

The result of the Two Locks election

The count was held at the White Hut. David Thomas, Independent, the Llantarnam Ward county borough, councillor, won with 217 votes. The other candidates were:

  • Andrew Stephens, Welsh Labour: 190 votes
  • Nathan Edmunds, Welsh Conservative Party: 52 votes
  • Brendan Roberts, Welsh Liberal Democrats: 23 votes

This election saw a total of 482 votes suggesting a turnout of around 17.86%. Cwmbran Life has asked Torfaen Council for the accurate turnout figure. In 2022, the turnout in this ward was 15.3%  with 413 votes.
