A Cwmbran Community Council report has revealed the number of drivers who were recorded as speeding on specific roads in Torfaen from 2015 to 2020.
The council met in November where they agreed to spend £8,550 on speed indicator devices to be installed at three roads in Cwmbran. Before the meeting councillors wanted to see data on speeding cars across Cwmbran. Councillor Anthony Bird, Northville ward, asked Gwent Police for the information and it was published in the report.
He was given a table of information for each year from 2015 to 2020. It showed that in 2020, the three roads in Cwmbran with the highest number of speeding drivers were:
- Henllys Way, Coed Eva- 184
- Newport Road, Llantarnam- 134
- Ty Gwyn Way, near Greenmeadow Community Farm- 132
The stretch of the A4042 between the Horse & Jockey roundabout and McDonald’s roundabout recorded the highest number of speeding drivers in Torfaen with 805.
