Members of the public can share their views today about rights of way in Torfaen at an event in Cwmbran.
In Torfaen, there are 230 miles (370km) of public footpaths, bridleways and restricted byways which are managed by the council.
There are now plans to update the council’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan develop an access strategy to improve the connection between routes and promote opportunities for active travel.
Torfaen County Borough Council is aiming to republish its Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP) and develop an Access Strategy for Active Travel and access into the countryside.
This consultation is an opportunity for you to give your input and help shape the plan.
A face-to-face session takes place today from 4pm-6pm at Llanyrafon Methodist Church, Cwmbran.
You can also share your views through this survey on the council’s website. This survey has sections for those who walk, those who cycle, those who ride horses and those who drive to the countryside.
The deadline for completing this survey is midnight on Saturday 5 October 2024.
After the survey closes, the feedback received will be considered and a draft of the Access Strategy/Rights of Way Improvement Plan will be produced.
After Christmas, in early 2025 the draft strategy will also be shared and you’ll get another chance to give comment.
