The 94-year-old man who retired in September from Cwmbran Sainsbury’s after working there since 1981 has passed away.
Reg Buttress was loved by customers who enjoyed seeing him during their shopping trips. He loved wearing fancy dress on special days or charity events and this always made customers smile.
On Friday 22 September 2017 he enjoyed his last day at work and before he left the store he did a ‘lap of honour’ walking up and down the aisles shaking hands and hugging customers and colleagues.
He then enjoyed a sing and dance in the supermarket’s foyer while his friends from the Salvation Army played his favourite songs.
His wife passed away in 2011 and they had one son, Michael, who has three sons, David, Aneurin and Tomos. Reg had been dating Ruth for three years.
