The TEN Bar & Kitchen at Llanyrafon Golf Club

I found myself out and about in the cold yesterday afternoon and used my situation to check out Cwmbran’s newest food and drink venue.

TEN Bar & Kitchen opened at Llanyrafon Golf Club a month or two ago. This isn’t a full review- just a sneak peek as I can’t go anywhere without taking a few photos- but I plan to return over the next few weeks to try out the food.

The place was buzzing when we arrived at around 3.30pm. Groups of friends and couples were having a bite to eat- and people enjoying (hot and cold) drinks. It was cosy warm with that nice noise of chit-chat and lively conversation filling the background.

We sat outside on a table on the covered veranda overlooking the ninth hole (ok I made that up about the ninth hole. It could have been any of the nine holes) but our seats were in a nice spot to watch golfers on a warm spring or summer evening putting across the nearby green.

Our dinner was cooking in the oven at home so we just ordered a couple of cappuccinos and wrapped our hands around them and enjoyed the instant warmth. In a nice touch, a member of staff came out and said we could sit inside with our dog. All I’ll say is as soon as we got home, our dog was put in the bath so there was no way I was going to take this damp, muddy, stinking dog inside a busy new bar- but we appreciated the invite.

I don’t think the nine-hold course is open for golfers yet- but the sight of several people carrying golf bags confused me. Then as we left we spotted a huge screen on a wall through an open door- it was one of the venue’s golf simulators where you can choose to play courses from around the world from the comfy warmth of a log cabin in Cwmbran.
