Tiffins in Cwmbran opened on 1 December 2008 and has supported 100s of local groups by donating free meals for raffles and paying sponsorship. In the last year he estimates the restaurant has made over 400 donations. Watch the restaurant manager Iqbal Meah explain how and why in this video.
The next time you buy a raffle ticket or take part in a charity auction in Cwmbran look out for a prize from Tiffins. Iqbal told me he has never used traditional advertising. He prefers to help local causes that his customers support.
The 160-seater restaurant is a buffet where what you pay depends on the time you finish you meal and leave. There is also an al a carte menu for speciality dishes. Customers can also use free wifi, a children’s menu, disabled access and baby changing facilities.
Iqbal invited me to sit down for a meal and it was a cracker. The place was packed with diners of all ages. I spotted two birthday parties along with lots of couples and groups of friends all enjoying a night out.
