The Raging Bullseye JDC Darts Academy started in Torfaen last April and is already seeing its members compete in some of the UK’s top junior tournaments.
Gavin Hall, the founder and head coach, said it’s accredited by the Junior Darts Corporation (JDC) and sponsored by Winmau.
Gavin told Cwmbran Life: “I started the academy back at the beginning of April with fellow coaches Holly Evans and Sarah Watkins to give kids in the surrounding areas opportunities of growing in a booming sport.
“We run a session from Ponthir Village Hall on a Tuesday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and a session on a Thursday from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, so kids between the ages of eight to 18 can sign up to either day.
“In the very short time we have been open, we have attended some fantastic competitions with the likes of The Nations Cup and The Welsh Masters.”
Some members will be competing this month in the JDC’s Unsigned Weekender tournament, where they could win a place on the Winmau Team 360 team. And in January, they will be on the oche at the Winmau Junior World Masters in Milton Keynes.
Gavin said: “I would just like to reach as many youths in the surrounding areas as possible.
“We already have a fantastic intake, but feel like there’s still a lot more youngsters that would like to be a part of the JDC but don’t know how, as this is the route Luke Littler took to get his professional tour card.
“We have scope to grow and offer other days and would like to offer any kids in the surrounding areas that are either in it for just fun or serious about progressing in the sport a real chance.”
