Two people have been arrested after a number of places in Torfaen, including Crownbridge Special School in Cwmbran, were vandalised with pink paint.

Staff arriving at the school in Croesyceiliog last Friday morning found someone had spraypainted an offensive word towards people with learning difficulties across the entrance sign.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “We’re investigating several reports of criminal damage in Blaenavon and Cwmbran after buildings and cars were sprayed with offensive words in pink paint.

“Officers received calls regarding several cars and buildings that were reportedly sprayed in Porthmawr Road at some point between 11pm on Thursday 2 November and midnight on Friday 3 November. Further damage was reported at Crownbridge School in Cwmbran and Caradoc Walk in Blaenavon.

“Two people – a 19-year-old woman from Blaenavon and a 17-year-old boy from Cwmbran – were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and using threatening, abuse or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Both were later released on bail as enquiries continue.
