Members of Cwmbran and District Ex-Services Association at the TA Centre

Veterans in Cwmbran gathered this morning for a memorial service to the Queen before her funeral.

The event was organised by Cwmbran and District Ex-Services Association (CADESA). Shortly before 10am the group gathered outside the TA Centre in Two Locks.

Tony Burnett, the chair of CADESA, welcomed and thanked everyone for attending. He introduced Rhiannon Walding, the church warden of St Michael & All Angels Church in Llantarnam, who did the opening prayer.

Councillor Anthony Bird, chair of Cwmbran Community Council, shared a story of how he met and spoke to the Queen when she visited his school in Newport. Ms Walding read a prayer for the Queen before piper Steve Parker, played a lament followed by a minute’s silence.

Attendees sang God Save the King followed by Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau.
