A new gallery has opened in Cwmbran as a venue for professional and amateur artists to sell their work

Gabriel’s Gallery is in the hall next to St Gabriel’s Church and has been set up by the South Wales Artist Cooperative. This is a group of artists who decided to work together to find and open a venue to showcase their art.

Richard Davies, from the cooperative, told Cwmbran Life it was difficult to find places to display artwork and ones that do often charge high commission rates on sales and this makes it prohibitive for struggling artists.

The gallery opened in August. Artists ‘staff’ the three days opening session which means visitors can enjoy the work and chat to them. Richard said there was no pressure to buy any items, they wanted people to visit and feel inspired from the creative work made by local artists.
