A Cwmbran theatre group are bringing comedy and nostalgia to the stage with a production of 1950s classic, The Darling Buds of May
The HE Bates novel, published in 1958 and set in rural Kent, became a hit ITV series in the early 1990s with leading roles played by David Jason, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Pam Ferris and Philip Franks.
Theatre Adhoc have chosen to bring it live for their 2024 summer production. The cast are taking to four venues starting with the Cwmbran’s Congress Theatre on Monday 24 June. The show starts at 7pm (doors open 6.30pm). Tickets are available from the Congress Theatre’s website.
Andrew Pippen, from Theatre Adhoc, said: “It’s a nostalgic and bawdy comedy reminiscent of 1950s Britain! The cast features local performers as well young performers plucked from Adhoc Children’s Theatre.”
