Kelli Aspland and Laura Waters
Kelli Aspland and Laura Waters watch themselves on Dragons' Den

This video shows the moment a roomful of friends and family of the founders of Solar Buddies find out that Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones have bought a stake in the business.

Kelli Aspland and Laura Waters booked the function room at St Joseph’s Social Club in St Dials to watch their appearance on the BBC1 show on a big screen. The show was filmed in March 2022 but they’ve had to remain tight-lipped until it was broadcast. Over 100 people packed out the room and watched in silence as the pair did their pitch.

The crowd breaks out into a round of applause and cheers when they accept the offer of £40,000 each from the two Dragons for a total of 20% stake. Laura reaches out and grabs Kelli’s arm as it’s announced. A few moments later Kelli punches the air while Laura claps and grins.
