A 16-piece band featuring some of the ‘finest jazz musicians in South Wales’ is performing at Cwmbran’s Crow Fest.
Capital City Jazz was formed in 2001 and has played at major jazz festivals across the country. Crow Fest is on Saturday 20 July 2024 at Cwmbran Stadium.
This interview was carried out thanks to the support of Cwmbran Community Council.
Cwmbran Life spoke to Ceri Rees, from the band. He said: “It’s Wales’ premier big band, basically the Welsh jazz orchestra. They’ve performed in jazz festivals all over the country.”
He said Capital City Jazz had a residency at St David’s Hall and “backed most of the jazz greats” who played at the venue.
“They play traditional and contemporary big band music, from Count Basie to Gordon Goodwin.” he added.
Capital City Jazz will be joined by Goldie Lookin’ Chain, Gypsy Pistoleros, Appletree Theory, 2 Rude, Travis George, Tobias Robertson, Darren ‘Graceland’ Jones and No One Knows.
