Social media personality Rhia Official donated prizes to the NSPCC’s Childhood Day auction.
The Welsh influencer and content creator from Cwmbran, who has 15.7 million followers on TikTok and 12.8-million YouTube subscribers, met with Childline staff and volunteers during a recent visit to the service’s base in Cardiff.
Her new partnership with Childline will help signpost children and young people should any of them need support or advice.
Childline is a free, confidential service available online, on the phone, anytime for children and young people up to 19-years-old to seek support and advice.
Rhia, said: “It was wonderful to meet with Childline staff and volunteers at my local NSPCC Childline hub in Cardiff.
“I learned such a lot during the visit about how the service provides a listening ear for children and young people.
“It was also fantastic to hear from the specially trained volunteer counsellors who give up their time to ensure there is always someone there for children.
“I was delighted to make a donation of prizes for the NSPCC’s Childhood Day auction, which will support the charity’s vital work protecting children and young people.”
The auction raised money for the NSPCC’s Childhood Day, the charity’s annual flagship day of fundraising and awareness, which was on Friday, June 7.
Prizes up for grabs included:
- A meet and greet with Ant and Dec
- Tickets to Britain’s Got Talent
- A video call with actor Jonah Hauer-King (known for his role as Eric in the live-action remake of Disney classic The Little Mermaid)
- Two tickets to a Simply Red concert
During the visit Rhia joined a Childline shift briefing where she met with volunteer counsellors and heard about how rewarding they find it to give up their time to support children and young people.
Louise Israel, Childline team manager at NSPCC Cymru’s Cardiff base, said: “We are extremely grateful to Rhia for visiting our hub and for her generous donation of these fantastic prizes for the Childhood Day auction, which will help to raise vital funds.
“It was lovely for our volunteers to meet Rhia. We look forward to working together to raise awareness about Childline, helping to ensure children and young people know that they have access to this lifeline service when they need it.”
