A Torfaen mobile bar and pizza business has donated just under 300 pizza kits to two local charities thanks to support from the community.

The team at Box’d Bar & Pizza have spent the summer holidays making and distributing simple low-cost kits containing everything a family needs to make a pizza at home. Members of the public have donated £5 to go towards the cost of supplying the kits. They teamed up with charities that work in the area, Trac2 and Cyfannol Women’s Aid, who were able to donate the kits to families they support.

Rhys Didcott, co-owner of Box’d Bar & Pizza, told Cwmbran Life: “We are approaching 300 in the form of free kits between Trac2 and Women’s Aid. There have been a lot more than that, but to registered charities it’s something like 290. I would say closer to double that in total for free. We will be doing another round next week as well. It feels amazing to give something back to the community that’s given us so much support and love since we have been trading since the end of April .

“If it wasn’t for the Torfaen community we wouldn’t have a business and to give back to those in need reaching as far as Abergavenny is our way of saying thank you during the teams of hardship for so many with the cost of living. It’s a small token we can offer. We are hoping to secure permanent premises in Trevethin as a prep kitchen, but also a space to open a community hub to further support so watch this space.”

In another exciting development for the business, they will be opening a stall in Monmouth Square in Cwmbran town centre from Tuesday 12 September.
