Just for a bit of fun I did this quick video walking around Llanyrafon Manor today.

Tomorrow, Sunday 13 April, is its first traditional country fayre from 10am to 4pm. Free entry.

A real ale tent will feature several local brewers. Cwmbran artisan baker Bill King is running a ‘hands on bread dough class’ and Torfaen’s first bake-off champion will be announced. You can watch traditional fun like wellie-wanging, maypole dancing and barrel rolling.

A full day of free activities, music and entertainment kicks off at 10am, with food, drink and craft producers from across the region will showcase their produce throughout the day.

There will be demonstrations on everything from beekeeping to baking, up-cycling to rug making, and cookery master classes from some of Gwent’s top chefs including Clive Williams, head chef at the Parkway Hotel and Spa.

Music lovers will be treated to a Celtic and folk mix from Crimes Against Folk and Gwent Music Service’ Chaware Teg musicians, while the Biker Urban Morris Side and Cwmni Gwerin Folk Dancers will perform lively and original folk dancing in the Manor grounds.

For those looking for a little more action there will be wellie wanging, barrel rolling and tug of war.

Budding bakers can also take part in Torfaen’s first bake-off, with prizes awarded for best cake, best Welsh recipe, and a special baking competition for children.
Local visitors are encouraged to walk or cycle wherever possible, and can take advantage of the new cycle route alongside the Afon Llwyd which runs past the Manor. Parking is available at the Manor and the nearby South Playing fields.
