The volunteers who organised the Picnic in the Park event in Pontnewydd have thanked their “amazing community” for turning up “in their hundreds”.
It was held on Saturday 18 May 2024 and organised by the Friends of Pontnewdd Park.
The day opened with a display by Cwmbran and District Pipes and Drums.
Familes enjoyed and afternoon of free entertainment including a falconry display, forest school, arts and crafts, lots of stalls and messy crafts.
Leanne Morgan, chair of the Friends of Pontnewydd Park, told Cwmbran Life: “Picnic in the Park exceeded all of our expectations. Our community partners provided a wide range of activities that went down a treat. The weather was the cherry on top! Our amazing community turned up in their hundreds.
“The committee members of our group ( only seven of them) really are the powerhouse behind making these events happen, a lot behind the scenes.
“We are lucky to have a little gang of additional volunteers that join us for events which is key to a successful and safe event.
“This very small group give up their time and energy to make the magic happen and it was rewarded in the currency of smiles, happy families and community togetherness in our lovely park.
“We would love to see photos of the event that members of the community feel able to share or read comments and reflections. This really helps us to evidence the work Friends of Pontnewydd Park do when applying for funding.”
