STORAGE for bicycles at a new homeless accommodation in Pontypool has been reduced to make way for bins.
The grade-II listed Pearl Assurance Building is to be converted to 16 flats which will be used as temporary accommodation for people who are at risk of homelessness or have lost their homes.
Onsite support will be provided with the intention tenants are able to move on to more “sustainable” tenancies.
But Torfaen Borough Council has now approved a change to the original plans it approved as the level of bin storage is significantly larger than shown on the original drawings.
As a result the number of cycle storage spaces is reduced from 16 to five, but the council says this still meets its parking standards.
