Louise Shepphard: Independent candidate for the Trevethin and Penygarn ward

Louise Shepphard is an Independent candidate for this week’s by-election in the Trevethin and Penygarn ward.

She explains why she is standing and why she thinks you should vote for her on Thursday 13 February. Scroll down to see information on the other four candidates.

“Why Vote for me? Because I’m the best Candidate for the ward. Trevethin, Penygarn and Pontnewynydd.

“I have lived in the area my whole life, Penygarn and Trevethin.

“I have worked since 16 as an Electrical apprentice and then self employed for 30 years.

I’ve had many many projects along the way. employing many local lads and ladies and I still do. I am Successful in business and a very hardworking driven person that needs to achieve and enjoys new challenges and projects.

“I have proven track record that I can be a good Cllr within THIS community, I took a labour seat from a previous Labour Cllr after 27 years, that had never been done before.
I organised, community trips, fireworks displays at Cold Barn Farm, obtained grants for allotments, monthly litter picks, monthly ward surgeries, collected food share from Tesco 5 days a week, homeless runs twice a week, endless Bronafon housing issues resolved, potholes, monthly street lighting surveys, grass cutting for disabled and elderly people, painted football changing rooms after being damaged with graffiti, carnival trips, summer fetes, Christmas events, etc

“Due to my previous term as Cllr for Trevethin and Penygarn I know where to go and who to contact with different issues, Bronafon, social care, housing, street scene etc

“I have the knowledge, enthusiasm, energy and tools and equipment to do small clean ups and jobs in the community without asking anyone for help. (Ie yesterday I screwed a ladies gate back on become the screws had fallen out. This meant the world to her because she could let her dog back into the garden).

“I own 2 vans to do litter picks and deal with flying tipping in the community.

“I have the drive and enthusiasm to want to help, no political agenda I was asked to stand for Reform and declined as I wanted to stand alone and not for a Party. I have no other agenda than to help my home community.

“No other candidate will make a difference in Torfaen Council whatever they tell you.
I will fight and campaign for what the community wants and not have to follow the party line.

“The best candidate is the one that will be the best in the community and this is me.

“Love me or hate me it’s the truth, don’t waste a vote on any other candidate, vote for the comminity and not party politics.

“Did any other candidate go out in the rain yesterday and do a litter pick collecting over 30 bags of rubbish from the estate? No it proves I am committed and want to improve OUR community.

“If elected I want to concentrate on youth issues finding out what they want and trying to implement more schemes and opportunities for them.

  • Bronafon housing issues are at an all time high and need to be addressed immediately.
  • Rubbish and helping residents with clean ups in their homes and gardens.
  • Supporting the elderly with a local community group.
  • Defibrillator in Trevethin
  • Community trips for all ages and groups

Please do t waste your vote on anyone else and vote for me Thursday 13th February
