Thirty-six walking football teams loved playing in a festival in Cwmbran yesterday.
Nick Beckett, event organiser from Cwmbran Celtic FC walking football club, said: “
It’s been fantastic. So we had our social sessions, some people playing in tournaments for the first time ever, which is absolutely brilliant. So we teach them the rules as we go along a little bit.
“I thought we might have ten, 15 teams. We’ve ended up with 36. So the organisation has been tricky at times and accommodating everybody. But it’s been worth it. Just to see so many people out here today. A lot of us older people, dare I say, would be at home slumped in front of the telly probably this afternoon and we’re out here playing football, which can’t be bad can it.”
