A group of pupils from Croesyceiliog School are celebrating national recognition after winning the Rotary Young Citizen Peacemaker Award 2026 at the Rotary Youth Competitions finals in Hartford last weekend.

The students, all members of the school’s Interact Club, were praised for their commitment to helping others locally and globally. Their distinctive tops for the event were kindly donated by Lorran Engineering.

Pritti Davies, a teacher who helps run the Interact Club, said the win still feels “surreal”.

“To be nominated was already an incredible honour. To actually win feels surreal. This award recognises the heart of what our Interactors do every single week. We are so proud of our young people. They don’t just talk about making the world better, they quietly get on and do it.”

The club’s projects include supporting children at Jackie School in Uganda through literacy, menstrual health and play; creating local opportunities with their Book Stop; and building a Peace Garden at the school.
