Players from Cwmbran Town’s Under‑13s held their awards night on Friday 3 July to mark the end of their season – their final one before moving up to the 11‑a‑side game.

The night began with a fun quiz, with baby and toddler photos of players and coaches appearing on screen. Afterwards, each player was called up individually as the coaches shared a short summary of their season.

Mike Board coaches the team with his brother Steve. He told Cwmbran Life that “nights like this are massive for the boys.”

“It’s a culmination of the whole year’s hard work,” he said. “It’s always a pleasure to celebrate them for their achievements and really let them see how hard they’ve worked.”

Mike hopes the players continue progressing through the Crows’ junior and youth system and eventually into the senior side.

Under‑14s marks the start of 11‑a‑side football, and Mike believes the team are ready for the step up in the new season. “It’s going to be a big adaptation and a big change for them,” he said. “But knowing how we know them, I think they’re going to thrive, seize the challenge and make the most of it.”

Awards were presented for Coaches’ Player, Parents’ Player, Most Improved Player, Players’ Player and Clubman.

Mike and Steve also announced the new captain and vice‑captain for the 2026/27 season.

Five players received caps for reaching 50 appearances for Cwmbran Town AFC, and three were recognised for reaching 100 appearances.

Another nice touch was a tray of cupcakes among the buffet- each with a shirt on a stick featuring a player’s name.

The event was held at Croesyceiliog Rugby and Cricket Club.
