Families and hobby enthusiasts are being invited to a free summer open day at Cwmbran Boating Lake on Sunday 9 August, where members of the Cwmbran Modelling Society will showcase a wide range of radio‑controlled models.
The event runs from 10am to 5pm and will feature demonstrations on the water, including model ships sailed by society members. Visitors will also be able to watch radio‑controlled tanks and cars being put through their paces on the crawler course beside the lake.
Roger Morgan, secretary of the society, said members meet at the Boating Lake every Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoon to sail their model ships, with other activities such as flying, tanks and cars taking place throughout the year.
He said: “We will also have a huge selection of models to see and visitors will be encouraged to talk about them with our members.”
The event is free to attend.
