Applications for the Welsh Government’s Winter Fuel Scheme 2022/23 must be made to Torfaen Council before the end of February 2023.

The scheme allows eligible households to claim a one-off £200 cash payment to provide support towards paying fuel bills.

Residents who have not already applied must do so before 5pm on Tuesday 28 February 2023.

The scheme started on 26 September 2022 and some households may have received the payment automatically, without submitting an application. The payments would have been paid into bank accounts between 27 September and 3 October 2022.

The payment is in addition to the UK Government’s £400 Energy Bill rebate and the Winter Fuel Payment normally paid to pensioners.

Torfaen Council aims to make a payment within 30 days of receiving the application.
