A shop that sells ‘character clothing’ has applied to have signs installed at the site of a former women’s clothes shop in Cwmbran town centre.

The business is called Character.com and it has stores in London (Kingston), Swindon, Kent (Bromley) and Bridgend. The planning application to Torfaen Council is to install a ‘new fascia and projecting sign’ at 9 The Mall, a unit that was home to Select Fashion until it closed in December 2024.

The ‘about us’ page on the Character.com website says: “Everyone loves character clothing.

“Even big kids who should know better. Character.com has scoured the kingdom and searched the galaxy for the latest trends, best value and biggest choice.

“Enlisting the space rangers, wizards, ponies and princesses you need on your side to get them moving in the morning or win the battle of bedtime.

“Founded by parents, we get it. Kitting them out in the latest gear isn’t cheap. And if it’s the wrong one, cue the howls of outrage. Which is why we take care to source the styles they want to be seen in, at a price that won’t break the bank.

“At Character HQ you won’t just find superheroes on t-shirts. Shop with confidence knowing that our customer champions stand ready to ensure your experience with us is a great one. Clothing, nightwear or accessories.”
