The staff car park at Cwmbran’s Asda shop will be altered for a new ‘grocery collection point’ and ‘home shopping pod’.
A planning application has been approved by Torfaen Council for the work to take place. It will mean shoppers can book a slot to arrive and have their online grocery order brought to their car.
The staff car park will be reduced from 97 spaces to 40. Asda wanted to landscape the site using hawthorn and blackthorn but the council’s landscape officer said this was “unwise” as it would collect “litter and debris”. One of the conditions of the application’s approval was for the developer to use native beech hedge.
