“Celtic has never shied away from a challenge.” Those are the words of Cwmbran Celtic’s chairman as the team prepares for their final match of the season where they face a relegation battle to stay in the JD Cymru South league.

Celtic are just outside the relegation zone but locked on points with Penrhiwceiber Rangers who are third from bottom.

They are outside the bottom three thanks to a three goal difference so a good result in the match tomorrow- Saturday 12 April – against Llanwit Major is vital.

A pre-match report by the FAW says: “Penrhiwceiber Rangers will need to better Cwmbran Celtic’s result if they are to stay up, unless both sides win but Rangers triumph by four more goals.”

Barrie Desmond, club chairman, said: “We’ve been here before and we’ve come through it and I’ve every confidence we’ll do it again. The lads know what’s at stake, and the spirit in the team is fantastic. I’m sure Simon Berry and the coaches have prepared well. Saturday’s a big day, but Cwmbran Celtic has never shied away from a challenge.”

Rangers are playing away at Carmarthen Town (currently sixth). Llanwit Major are currently eighth in the league.

Kick off is 2.30pm at the Avondale Motor Park Arena on Henllys Way, next to Cwmbran Stadium.
