The shortlist was announced today for the Wales Blog Awards 2012 and Cwmbran Life is in two categories. The blog is up for ‘Best Community Blog’ and ‘Best New Blog’.
To say I’m happy is an understatment. I’m shortly heading out to a Cwmbran pub to buy a pint and read a newspaper.
The last year has been a lot of fun with lots of random posts that show with a decent smartphone (Samsung S2) and a bit of cheek you can persuade anyone to feature in a story (Note- only one person has refused to be interviewed for the blog so far.)
In the last year I’ve recorded the Cwmbran youth player who scored the winning try for the team to win their first league title, interviewed Father Christmas at Greenmeadow Community Farm and had to deal with the tricky situation when someone asks you to delete a post from your blog.
One night in the Fairwater House pub I got chatting to a fascinating man who I reckon is Cwmbran’s oldest jockey. A few minutes nosing on YouTube led to the discovery of this 4yo boy whose tricks on a scooter have to be seen to be believed.
That’s just a snapshot of the 321 posts that have each given me an excuse to spend a bit more time out and about in my favourite town.
