Cwmbran RFC under 11s have launched a fundraising appeal to help cover rising costs and ensure every young player has the kit and equipment they need as they move into the Under 12s age group next season.

Head coach Gavin Cook said the support would make a huge difference to the team after a difficult winter:

“Any funds we could raise would be hugely appreciated and beneficial to our growing team. The unkind Welsh weather this winter has meant the amount paid out for 4G pitches to ensure our players get to train and play has exceeded our current funding.

“Suitable kit and equipment also comes at a cost, and relying solely on our players’ parents and guardians each year is hard and we would love to alleviate that burden as much as we can for our families.

“The funds raised would go a long way in making our players’ rugby journey the most enjoyable it could be, to ensure they can continue to play the game they love and carry that passion from grassroot community rugby and beyond.”

The team’s GoFundMe page describes the players as a “dedicated, mud‑loving and hard‑working” group proud to represent a club that has been part of South Wales rugby since 1880. As they step up to Under 12s, the game becomes faster and more technical, and the need for safe, high‑quality equipment increases.

The money raised will go towards:

  • New size‑4 training balls
  • Tackle bags and hit shields
  • Training bibs and cones
  • Winter jackets and beanies
  • Match‑day essentials such as first‑aid kits and water bottles
  • A VEO Rugby system, an AI‑powered camera that helps teams record and analyse matches

The club says every penny will stay within the Under 11s squad. Supporters who can’t donate are encouraged to share the appeal with friends, family and local businesses.

The team added: “Rugby at Cwmbran RFC isn’t just a sport; it’s where we learn teamwork, discipline, and make friends for life.”
