Two friends from Cwmbran were stunned to spot each other at the finish line of a Parkrun event in Germany.
The coincidence happened at Hasenheide in Berlin – and neither had any idea the other was even in the city.
Richard Jones was in Germany to meet up with Ronnie, a German language assistant at West Mon School and Pontypool College in the early 1990s, who lived with Richard’s family from 1992 to 1993.
Paul Mason was in Berlin on a city break to celebrate his son Zack’s 18th birthday.
Both men are members of Griffithstown Harriers running club. They are regulars at Cwmbran’s parkrun at Cwmbran Boating Lake.
Paul told Cwmbran Life: “I headed to Parkrun and spotted Rich across the finish area and thought ‘no way can that be Rich’ — and yes it was!”
