The deputy head of Llanyrafon Primary School has retired after working there for over 25 years. Mandy Callard left the school for the last time in December.

Big thanks to four pupils, Imogen Hindley, Lilly Beckett, Aline Roberts, and Eliza Jelley, for interviewing her and writing this article:

“Mrs Callard was a very well respected and loved deputy head teacher at our school who retired in December after 25 years and 4 months in service.

“During this time, she has not only taught thousands of children, but has also taught a few of our teachers, including former teaching assistant Mr Bishop and Year three teacher Miss Morgan.

“Llanyrafon Primary School will always have a special place in Mrs Callard’s heart, as she didn’t just teach there, she was a former pupil herself and her three children Beth, Will and Livvy also attended the school too.

“She has lots of memories at Llanyrafon Primary but her favourite one was ‘coming together for Business Enterprise, and watching all the children grow from Reception to Year six’.

“Mrs Callard’s family are all around the UK, so during her retirement, she would like to see them more, especially her grandson, who lives in Weymouth. She would also like to travel the world and explore lots of new places.

“Mrs Callard was an incredible teacher, who served us well during her teaching career. We could not have asked for a better teacher, who will be very dearly missed.”
