Plans have been submitted to Torfaen Council for new signs on the former Pontnewydd Inn.

Drawings in the application for the site on Commercial Street in Pontnewydd show signs for One Stop, the convenience store with over 900 branches across the UK. The pub has been boarded up for many years with firefighters attending a fire there in 2013.

The fire story says that Tesco Express made an application to open but these plans were never followed through.

A sign company in Fareham has submitted the application on behalf of One Stop. The application also includes drawings for signs for the customer car park and entrance direction signs at the rear of the shop.

One Stop has one other branch in Cwmbran, in Henllys. Torfaen Council will make a decision on the application at a later date.
