A Cwmbran couple who opened a distillery in the town last year are holding an event with live music, cocktails and street food at Greenmeadow Community Farm this week.
Jamie and Marie Boycott started Kilted Dragon Distillery and make a range of drinks including vodka, gin and rum from their unit on Springvale Industrial Estate.
They’ve been supported by Torfaen Council’s Food4Growth, which encourages local businesses to use and support each other. The ‘Sliders & Sundowners’ event is on Friday 14 August and is close to being a sell-out.
Marie said: “Sundowners & Sliders is our way of celebrating what Food4Growth is all about – local flavour, collaboration, and community. Partnering with The Farmers Table at Greenmeadow Community Farm lets us showcase great food and our craft spirits in a relaxed, golden‑hour setting, with entertainment from The Three O’Clock Club to bring the whole thing to life.
“People should come because it’s a true Torfaen experience: farm‑fresh sliders, locally made drinks, live music, and a welcoming atmosphere that suits families, friends, and anyone who wants to unwind and enjoy a great venue in the community.
Strong local partnerships
“It’s also a milestone moment for us. This is our first summer in business, and the support has been incredible. We’ve grown fast, built strong local partnerships, and seen how much people support local independent craft. Sundowners & Sliders is our way of celebrating that first season and giving something back to the people who’ve helped us get here.”
There were 100 tickets released, with fewer than 20 still available. The ticket (£5) includes a slider or hot dog with fries (veggie and GF alternative available), and a cocktail or mocktail.
Children (£3) can enjoy s’mores- hot, roasted marshmallow and chocolate served between two sweet crackers.
