Businesses in a Cwmbran shopping centre celebrated its 70th birthday last month.
The parade of shops at Maendy Way in Pontnewydd opened in 1954. The owners of the current shops in the centre held a fun day for customers and residents.
Ellie Dummett, from Morgan’s Breakfast & Baguettes, told Cwmbran Life: “On the 16th of August we held a [70th birthday] celebration for the row of shops.
“Every shop on the row got involved. We came together as a community to celebrate this big milestone. It was so amazing to see people come together and reminisce about the old days and tell their stories.
“Each shop on the row made an effort with a BBQ, face painting, raffles and so much more.
“We decided to donate all money raised on the day to Able Radio which is a local organisation.”
