A 28-year-old man from the Cwmbran area has been charged with attempted murder and grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident in the town last week.

Officers were called to West Roedin, Coed Eva, at around 8.45pm on Thursday 15 June following reports of an assault. A 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

A 28-year-old man remains in custody and is due to appear before Newport Magistrates Court today.
