This was read out as Michelle Robins was given the Health & Wellbeing Champion Award at Cwmbran Community Council’s Community Awards held on Friday 6 March.
“Michelle joined the Happy Kids programme being delivered at Coed Eva primary school. She instantly became a warm and encouraging presence. She helped other parents feel comfortable taking part, created a supportive atmosphere, and contributed hugely to the peer support culture that made the sessions so successful. Her enthusiasm for helping families understand their emotions and support each other was clear from the start.
“After the programme, Michelle joined the school PTA and turned their passion into action.
“She secured funding to set up a group of pupil “Well-being Friends”, children trained to support their peers with kindness, listening skills, and emotional awareness. Michelle also sourced funding for tabards and resources so the children could be easily recognised and feel proud of their role. Michelle’s dedication has continued to grow.
“She became a governor at Cwmbran High, helping to extend the well-being work to older pupils and parents and strengthening links across the community. Through every step, Michelle has shown genuine care, creativity, and commitment.
“She empowers families, champions children’s well-being, and brings people together in a way that makes a real, lasting difference.
“Michelle is a true community Wellbeing Champion, and we are absolutely delighted to recognise and celebrate her tonight.”
