Residents can now recycle their clothes and footwear at a new bank in Cwmbran.

The Salvation Army has placed one of its banks in the corner of the car park at the Tesco Express stores in Greenmeadow.

Last June, the charity reminded people not to leave clothes outside the banks if they are full after piles of bags were spotted at the recycling area in Cwmbran’s Morrisons store.

A Salvation Army spokesperson told Cwmbran Life: “As a church and charity we rely on the generosity of the public to help support our work.

“Through our collection banks we are diverting clothes from landfill and giving them a new lease of life – while raising money for our work in communities like Cwmbran.

“Our banks are emptied on a regular basis but sometimes they can fill up quickly due to people’s generosity. We would ask that people do not leave donations outside our banks as they are at risk of damage or even theft. To report a full bank, please contact our helpdesk on 0808 141 5890 or email us at [email protected].”
