These five young snooker players have been crowned the Newport City Division 1 champions.

This isn’t a junior league. Division 1 sees clubs from across the area enter teams of five players- who each compete with an individual handicap score to make matches more competitive. Their parents take them to clubs across Gwent for games, usually against adults.

The five make up the Redz C team – based out of the Cwmbran snooker club- and have handicaps ranging from plus ten points to plus 40 points.

A league match involves each player taking on a player from another club in a series of home and away fixtures. A club league match is five frames in total- with each team member playing one frame.
