Music is not my thing. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve bet on Little Mix to win X Factor, the first record I bought was Nellie the Elephant and I have seen Mel C twice in concert.

But watching talented musicians up close in a pub is a different thing altogether.

Today at the Bush Inn we saw the Bryn Davies Quartet and the Pet Food Boys.

Sunday Jazz kicked off at 1pm and we had a relaxing afternoon over a few pints of Doom Bar and a tasty £2 bargain toastie.

I can’t comment on the music due to being tone deaf but I can comment on the smiling faces and generous applause from the pub drinkers at the end of each tune. I didn’t even notice that Bryn Davies, sax player, also played the keyboard for the Pet Food Boys.

My mother in law, a music fan, said he is a talented young man. She was spot on. I came across this review of Bryn and found out he is only 17 (according to the review in September). This other online mention says he is ‘surely destined for greatness’.

It was a fun afternoon of foot tapping, good conversation and a game of dominoes.
