The Cwmbran Life Business Awards. Those five words may be the craziest words I’ve ever written in the last 13 years.
They came from a random chat with my wife in December. We both got animated and excited as we shared different ideas.
Nothing is finalised yet, apart from the fact that 2025 will be the year of the first (and hopefully not the last), Cwmbran Life Business Awards. They will be different to a typical awards event. I can’t reveal too much now (as I haven’t made every decision) but you won’t find categories like ‘The Best X in Cwmbran’.
Businesses won’t be putting themselves forward. I’ll want to hear from the customers, the people who put their hard-earned cash in the pockets of those businesses with an NP44 postcode.
The awards night will be a fun event in a community hall that will celebrate every finalist and their customers’ stories- before each winner is announced. Here is the timetable.

📆 January- Sorting it all out. Agreeing the categories. Lots of worrying. A few headaches. Choosing the judges. Sleepless nights thinking it’s a stupid idea. Working out the online entry form. More worrying.
📆 February- Launch and open for entries. Over to you, the customers, to tell me your stories through an online form.
📆 March- Judging and announcing the finalists.
📆 April/ May- Awards night.
📆 The morning after the awards night I’ll either start planning the 2026 awards or decide it was the stupidest idea ever and never mention it again
