TWO new homes could be built on an overgrown area of wasteland last used for housing in the 1960s beside a small terrace.
Planning permission has twice been given for two homes on the site next to numbers 21 and 22 Stanley Road in Garndiffaith, Pontypool in 1989 and most recently 2019 but that permission has since expired.
Applicants R Dibble and J Dibble, who have a correspondence address in Greenmeadow, Cwmbran, have applied to Torfaen Borough Council for outline planning permission for two detached homes on the plot.
Details such as design, appearance, layout and access would be reserved to be considered at a later date, although off street parking would be provided within each plot
A statement submitted with their application suggested the site would be suitable for self-build homes and stated: “It is considered that this infill site would be ideally suited to provide ‘self build’ plots or for first-time buyers or small families”.
According to the statement the land was occupied by two-semi detached homes that were demolished in 1962.
The application is being considered by the council’s planning department.
