Campaigners against the new 20mph limit that has been introduced on some 30mph roads in Wales held a protest in Pontypool today.
A group of around ten people stood at the junction of Glantorfaen Road and Hanbury Road this afternoon, holding placards and encouraging passing drivers to beep their horns. The new law came into effect on 17 September and saw a default speed limit for some 30mph roads being reduced to 20mph. Councils were able to apply for roads to remain at 30mph and will hold a consultation in the future to decide if the ones they chose should remain at that limit.
