A speed dating night for people aged over 60 is being held in Newport.
Home Instead, a national home care provider, is hosting the event on Thursday 26 September from 4pm to 6pm in the Riverfront Theatre.
Nicola Masters, community engagement officer for the organisation, said: “Well this year, Home Instead, our national office have done a research campaign and researched over 1,000 participants about older life. And 86% of those respondents said that they still wanted to find love, still wanted to find companionship, and also still wanted to make love.
“You know, and what’s wrong with that? So in response to that, I thought, well, let’s create an event, an over 60s speed dating event.
“It’s really just to bring people together to create friendships. companionships and if you can find love and find the one, I may be doing the inaugural ‘buying the hat’ as Cilla Black would say, so come on down. It’s from 4pm to 6pm, two hours. You can have fun and wind the night away as well in Newport, but, we’re going to have great fun.”
