A teenager who lost both of her grandads to cancer officially opened Cwmbran High School’s Relay for Life event on Friday 19 June.
Harmony Daly, 14, first raised money for Cancer Research UK when she was a pupil at Blenheim Road Community Primary School, and has continued supporting the charity ever since.
Throughout the day, pupils from different year groups will take turns walking laps of the school field to raise money for Pontypool’s Relay for Life – the 24‑hour team relay taking place in Pontypool Park on 4-5 July 2026.
This was the third year the school’s PE department has worked with Harmony and taken part.
Before the relay began, Victoria Perkins, a volunteer with Pontypool Relay for Life, led a whole‑school assembly explaining how the money raised will support cancer research and services here in Wales.
